Why I built it
About 15 years ago, the shop I worked for was still typing punch-card times from a paper time clock into the computer by hand. I wrote a touchscreen time clock to save our office person that chore.
The surprise was how much the shop floor liked it. Our foreman loved seeing at a glance who was absent, who was at lunch, and who forgot to clock out for lunch — so much that when he moved on to another shop, he called and asked for a copy for his new place. I polished it up, gave him one, and it’s been in use ever since.
It has come a long way. The first version dumped everything into an Access database to be processed. Now the program does all the math itself and prints finished time sheets with manager and employee signature lines.
